Do you worry about your skin looking oily and go to the restroom to wipe away oil or check your make-up? Does your make-up flake, or streak, or quite seemingly ‘melt’ during the day?
Wearing a primer can make a world of difference to how you feel and look at the office and outside of the office for functions or meetings.
There is nothing worse, and I am sure most men and women will agree, to shine down the centre panel, around the nose area and forehead and chin. People notice this, attention is focussed on the shiny area, and it is unattractive for your visual appearance and overall well groomed look.
What is primer?
Primer is a base product that helps to create a smooth and even surface for make-up application. It acts a s a base between your skin and make-up. It helps protect your skin while keeping your make-up in place and looking flawless through the day. Primer has wondrous matte-ifying affects and wearing primer can boost your confidence at the office, as you move about knowing you look good and your image is in correct order.
Men too can wear a primer alone, to look less oily at the office during the day, as it creates a matt film and it cannot be seen if lightly applied to the nose or forehead area. Women can wear it under foundation to keep make-up in place. Having a primer on can reduce the amount of time you spend thinking about checking whether your make-up is still intact and actually going to re-apply it.
Primer is perfect for people who are frequently in the spotlight, men and women who are in demanding jobs, important meetings, whereby one gets nervous, which increases the sebum/oil levels to the skin, by increasing circulation and increasing blood pressure. Sebum can increase for people who work under lights for example television staff. Primer is suitable for all men and women of all ages.
For women:
When you apply primer to the skin, there is little to no need to apply powder on the top of the foundation – this can be useful for slightly more mature women who might want to avoid the use of powder, which can highlight lines and wrinkles. Wearing a primer can reduce the amount of foundation and powder you use.
Primer choice and application tips:
Choose a water-based primer if you have an oily skin, combination or acne-prone skin. (Silicon-based primers are more suitable for normal skin types). Note: Water-based primers are also good for dry skin types who are looking for a primer with moisture benefits.
Apply primer with a foundation sponge or brush for a smooth and even coverage.
Sweep/place the primer across your skin.
Brush or move the primer upwards as downwards with foundation to create a flawless look.
Avoid rubbing the primer into your skin like a moisturiser.
Allow a minute for the primer to settle and dry before applying your foundation.
For men:
Apply primer after an oil free moisturiser, choose a moisturiser to hydrate the skin. This way the oil won’t seem to shine and sit on top of the skin, giving you a dewy effect.
There are primers for specific skin types, whether you have a normal skin, dry, oily or combination. Primers are used on uneven skin tones, skin that is discoloured, redness or large pores.
Eye primers are available too, these primers help create smooth and even skin tones for application of a concealer and an eye shadow application. There are primers in mascara’s and lip products.
Should you be looking for something gentle and are concerned about applying products to your skin that may be harmful or contain harmful ingredients such as parabens – there are primers on the market that are gentle and contain vitamins and anti-oxidants that soothe and protect the skin too.
A primer is perfect for everyday use and will make you feel less insecure about make-up applications and facial shine and gives you the help and aid of confidence when at work in front of business colleagues and clients.
