Metabolism is all the chemical processes that go on inside the body to keep it alive, keeping your organs functioning properly, such as your breathing, repairing cells and digesting food. Energy is required for this process. The faster your metabolism the quicker and easier you will burn calories and balance your weight.
How do you speed your metabolism up?
Build more muscle, it requires energy to maintain muscle tissue than fat stores. People that exercise more, have more muscle to fat ratio and so, therefore, have a higher metabolism or metabolic rate. Be more active; spend less time sitting down, where possible. Movement stimulates hormones and protein breakdown, both, which increase metabolic rate, to help keep weight down.
The more you move the more calories you burn the more muscle you have, which increases metabolism! Get up and get more active!
