Healthy food and carbohydrates:
Eating too much or too many carbohydrates will make us fat and gain weight. Carbohydrates turn to sugar in the body and if we don’t exercise enough or properly and burn off the carbohydrates, the fat stays in our bodies and we get lumps, bumps, cellulite and diseases, such as, heart disease and Type 2 Diabetes. Whatever excess we consume in carbohydrates and don’t burn the fat off, the fat will continue to increase. We need to eat all our essential amino acids and eat less fat to stop inflammation in the body. Inflammation breaks down good and normal functioning of the body. Inflammation can cause pain. We need to eat more protein, which are the building blocks of all the cells in the body. Protein repairs and supports new cell growth. Protein gives our muscles energy. Protein helps to lift our blood sugar levels and to keep our energy levels up.
When your energy levels are down, eat:
- A piece of lean chicken
- Eat natural sugar-free yoghurt with a piece of fruit
- Eat homemade kumara chips with a spinach, carrot and kale salad
- Eat 6 raisins and a handful of nuts (brazil, almond, cashew) and cranberries
- Drizzle a teaspoon of honey over your fruit and yoghurt or salad (Eat honey in moderation)
